Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation.

The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here.

Letters We Love
Evangelist Robert L. Sumner

This Pennsylvania reader sounds angry, doesn’t he? Writing about another matter, he added: I love The Biblical Evangelist as I have for years. The only thing about it that makes me nauseous, angry, dizzy, frustrated, and hopeless is that it isn't published more often!

Appreciate your prayers for my situation: 22 months w/o a full-time job. Love this economy!

Our personal opinion is that if the present administration would spend a little less time and energy trying to destroy traditional marriage and promote sodomy – to say nothing of seeking to turn the country into a Banana Socialist Republic, especially in the area of medical concerns – and work on the economy, it would be a great benefit to everyone. But, in defense of our president, he doesn’t have a clue about how to go about it.

The Quaker State brother also noted that the present condition (regarding sodomy and same-sex marriage: “this administration puts pervert’s ‘rights’ above joblessness, the rotten economy, and the Olympics”) reminding him of Judges 19, where the Sodomites kept beating on the door, even after (depending on your version) they were blinded.”

A minister in Ohio wrote a very kind letter, which he sent with an even kinder gift:

“Just a note to let you know how we enjoy receiving The Biblical Evangelist and would hope to continue receiving it as long as you are able to publish it. I am a Baptist preacher, 74 years of age, and it is an encouragement to me to read of others, in the past and those of today, who are earnestly contending for the Faith once delivered to the saints. I am just narrow minded enough to believe God gave us His word to preach and to try to live by, and He has assured us He is not going to change His mind – HIS Word is forever settled in Heaven. Let us hope and pray some of the younger generation will read The Biblical Evangelist and be moved to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

“Thank you again for the work you do on our Lord’s behalf. We will try to help support the work financially as we are able. Enclosed is a check to that end.

“Your fellow servants in the Lord.”

And it was signed by a husband and wife team who has long labored in His Vineyard.

From dear friends in Ohio, sending a gift, said in part: “Thank you for your review of the biography of John Rawlings.  I wondered why he didn't have a part in Sword conferences.  Then, as I was reading the Introduction it hit me.  It appears that he had the same problem that you have, you think for yourself (thank the Lord for that).  I haven't gotten any further yet but I imagine that he and John Rice were friends and respected each other.

“I am greatly enjoying your magazine received recently.  I think that it covers real issues in today's world plus soul food better than any other magazine published today.  I hope the Lord spares you for many years yet to come.”

A friend in Georgia wrote about a matter, adding at the end:

“In closing, I have not had a previous problem w/reasonable timeline receipts of various authored books/resources after payment of those resources from you. In the last two years I have purchased your excellent Bible commentaries on the books of 'Hebrews' (possibly the best commentary on this book I have read), 'James' (also an excellent commentary) and your personal well written tome, 'Fights I Did Not Start ...' as well as your publication The Biblical Evangelist.

These were nice letters. Now it is your turn.
