Dr. Robert Sumner passed away in December 2016. The Biblical Evangelist newspaper is no longer being published and the ministry of Biblical Evangelism has ceased operation. The remaining inventory of his books and gospel tracts was transferred to The Baptist Tabernacle of Los Angeles and may be ordered here. Off the Cuff - Part 7 In 2000, the You may find this hard to believe, but it is true anyway. Congressman Chaka Fattah introduced a bill that would make you pay tax on every dollar of your own money you withdrew from an ATM machine… John Marshall, one of Kagan called Israel’s former Supreme Court Judge Aharon Barak her “judicial hero.” Robert Bork described him as the “most activist” judge on the planet. Here is his written advice/philosophy: "The judge may give a statute a new meaning, a dynamic meaning, that seeks to bridge the gap between law and life's changing reality without changing the statute itself. The statute remains as it was, but its meaning changes, because the court has given it a new meaning that suits new social needs." That is judicial activism, ruling from the bench, with a vengeance… And did you know that U.S. law “requires all goods be carried in U.S. waters by U.S.-flagged ships, … prevent[ing] Dutch ships with spill-fighting equipment from entering U.S. coastal areas.” Both this and the previous item thanks to Correspondent Erick Erickson… You’ve read about Ronnie Lee Gardner, convicted of murder in Early president John Adams on judges like Sotomoyer and Kagan: "[J]udges, therefore, should be always men of learning and experience in the laws, of exemplary morals, great patience, calmness, coolness, and attention. Their minds should not be distracted with jarring interests; they should not be dependent upon any man, or body of men”… Does the figure $52 billion mean anything to you? It represents the cost of educating kids of illegal aliens – our largest single public expenditure – almost totally absorbed by local and state governments, not the feds… Congressman Nathan Deal (GA), now running for governor, explaining a vote to fund Planned Parenthood: “… a lot of us were not fully convinced of where … Planned Parenthood was and what they were doing with their money.” Who in the world would vote for a politician that uninformed?... Dr. Ken Howell was an adjunct professor teaching courses on Roman Catholicism at the More of the same (patients running the asylum) was seen when the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan (where all the big boys in the TV media have their headquarters) tossed out the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) policy fining broadcasters for filthy language on live television. The trio of black robed injustices said “it chills speech, because broadcasters have no way of knowing what the FCC will find offensive." Third graders would know, but broadcasters wouldn’t?... Melissa Henson, with the Parents Television Council (PTC) said they were “outraged.” So am I! And Melissa added, after noting the ruling basically opens “the floodgate for non-stop 'f-words' and 's-words,' nudity, profanity [and] graphic violence throughout the day – regardless of venue, regardless of whether or not there are children in the viewing audience," adding it "basically overturned the will of the American people, the laws of the land, and even a decision of the Supreme Court." If the FCC doesn’t appeal it will be as bad as the court… In light of the above, The Hollywood Reporter warned, "Primetime TV this fall is going to be chock-a-block with even more blatant sexuality and raunchy language. It's a trend that's been a long time coming and is now accelerating”… Special news for Obama Health Care advocates: Abortion is not health care!... Donna Rice, president of “Enough is Enough,” a nonprofit group with a goal of keeping the Internet safe for children, notes, "Pornography is the drug of the millennium and more addictive than crack cocaine." She also reported, “According to a 2006 poll by Internet Filter Review, every month 9.4 million women access adult websites, many of them doing so while at work.”… An earlier report by Today's Christian Woman states that “one out of every six women, including Christians, admits struggling with an addiction to pornography.” Folks, we are in bad trouble morally in this country… About 20 months after the $862 billion stimulus, our economy has about five folks trying to get every job that becomes available. Obama’s solution? Extend unemployment benefits. But what happens when they run out?... Should everyone eligible to vote do so? I’ll turn a few heads and say, “Absolutely Not!” Some Americans are so uniformed they think the moon landing was filmed in Hollywood studios. The only thing they read in the papers are the astrology columns, and TV is limited to cartoons. I sincerely hope they will not vote! And do everything you can to see that they don’t!... Remember all those good folk who screamed to high heaven when George W. Bush appointed General Petraeus to head our troops in The president, early on, learned the power of executive order. Things he knows he can’t get Congress to approve, he legislates this way from the Oval Office. One order, signed almost immediately after taking office, provided over $20,000,000 to bring Palestinians who belong to the Islamic Resistance Movement to the Last year alone, Obama instituted 3,316 new rules and regulations, although according to the constitution, Congress is supposed to make the laws, not the president… I’ve seen the “Memo” that caused the Administration’s “emperor has no clothes” problem. The White House immediately declared, “We are against amnesty.” Fine, but other things in it involve changing the rules (a.k.a. “lowering the bars”). We repeat: this is the sneakiest, least open administration in history… Army Private Bradley Manning is the fellow who leaked all the classified information to WikiLeaks. He is also an active, passionate Sodomite who may have acted because Obama wasn’t moving fast enough to open the Sodomite floodgates. If we ever had a reason for keeping the 1993 law against sodomy in the military, Manning’s action is sufficient… Focus on the Family has reduced its staff to about half its 2002 level, laying off another 110 employees in August. FOF blames the economy and surely that has some to do with it. Others blame the organization’s leaving some of its founding principles… The NAACP, at its annual meeting last summer in Kansas City, called on its various chapters across the country to "repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties." Tea Party racism? Where? When? How? Yet isn’t the very name of the NAACP racist, seeking to advance and promote the black race? And wasn’t it the NAACP that asked the White House to drop the charges against the New Black Panther Party, the most racist group in America, one that calls for ‘killing’ off whites, including white babies?... We like the definition the late, patriotic, strict constitutionalist Senator Samuel Johnstone Erving (1896-1985) of North Carolina gave: "A judicial activist is a judge who interprets the Constitution to mean what it would have said if he, instead of the Founding Fathers, had written it”… Muslims at the First thing you know, someone will tell me there isn’t any Santa Claus. They have already told me the NRA has been promoting more and more liberal issues – even endorsing Harry Reid’s reelection… Dr. John MacArthur on the public invitation: “I personally believe that all preaching must be persuasive preaching. When someone comes to hear me speak, I am trying to urge him to make a decision. In other words, the whole goal of my preaching is to pin the guy to the wall. He is going to have to say, ‘I will’ or ‘I won’t do that.’ At the close of every service I say something like, ‘If you want to know Jesus Christ … and embrace Jesus Christ, then I want you to come to the prayer room.’” He never has a service without an invitation and he never has an invitation without people responding… The President of the So far his ‘solution’ has been to order a 6-month ban on the drilling, putting thousands upon thousands out of work and creating losses into the billions for oil companies, plus companies moving rigs out of the country… President Obama and Secretary Salazar said a panel of seven experts from the National Academy of Engineering prepared the report recommending the drilling moratorium (including that already in existence) in water deeper than 500 feet. Angry panel members started screaming immediately, saying its recommendation was in water deeper than 1,000 feet and only on new drilling… “[O] More incompetence. Dr. Jonathan Katz was hired as a member of the think tank assembled to find solutions to the oil crisis. As a professor of astrophysics, his abilities were not questioned. However, Obama fired him. Why? It seems over a decade ago he had written an anti-homosexual article… Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, nearly four decades late, offered a public apology for British troops gunning down and killing unarmed demonstrators in 1972 at Londonderry, Northern Ireland, calling it "both unjustified and unjustifiable." Altogether, over 3,600 lives were lost in those battles, including the husband of a lady in one of my meetings in Note to Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid: a major poll has given Congress a “favorable” rating of 11% – the lowest in United States history… While our president has proved he is no friend of Israel, the boys and girls in the House of Representatives have a different view. In fact, 337 of its 435 members signed a bipartisan letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that expressed "deep concern over recent tension" between our two countries, demanding that it be rectified quickly and privately… We have mentioned Dr. Alveda King before. She is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and her latest patriot act is calling the NAACP on its phony charge that Tea Party activists tolerate bigotry, noting the NAACP supports Planned Parenthood, “one of the most racist organizations in America today”… The American Family Association repeatedly requested The Home Depot to remain neutral in the Sodomite Battle, but just as repeatedly it refused, so AFA has announced a boycott of the retailer. HD has supported Sodomite festivals with both deeds and dollars, even when the perverts deliberately exposed small children to "open displays of homosexual activism." AFA finally said “enough already”… The Center for American Progress (a liberal group) released the results of its new poll showing confidence in the ability of government to solve America’s major problems has dropped to its lowest level in the history of its poll… The House of Representatives has been having a weekly battle on things to cut from our runaway budget. On the issue of reining in Fannie and Freddie, the monstrous housing pets of the feds and perhaps the #1 reason for our current fiscal mess, the vote was 180 to cut and 230 not to cut. Does the State of Planned Parenthood honored its most efficient lap dog in Washington (other than Obama, of course), Nancy Pelosi, praising her for all she has done to promote the PP agenda, giving her its first Champions of Women's Health award... Referring to her claim to “drain the swamp,” Jay Leno put it: "Nancy Pelosi said that when it comes to cleaning up government, the Democrats have drained the swamp. The only problem with that is what's left after you drain the swamp: snakes everywhere"… One man, Vaughn Walker, himself a Sodomite according to the San Francisco Chronicle (so should have recused himself), thwarts the will of millions of California citizens. For the second time, voters in the Golden Bear State overwhelmingly passed a marriage amendment of one man/one woman only to have one ungodly judge toss it out. He said it violated the “equal protection” and “due process” clauses of the Constitution, but since when did Sodomy gain such status? Appeals will go to the “Circus Court” (U.S. 9th Court of Appeals) and then to the Supreme Court – and now pro-Sodomite Kagan is on board. If it wins there, constitutional amendments and statutes in 45 states will be voided. We have long argued only a federal constitutional amendment will solve the problem… Ellen Kagan, new Supreme Court justice, testified she welcomes "good ideas wherever they originate," meaning it doesn’t have to be American law. Now it is learned she means to include the Islam Shariah law in that… Why don’t we cancel Congress and state legislatures? The courts are running the country anyway… President Obama publicly demanded The Disclose Act (a misnomer; it actually hinders free speech) won a temporary victory in the Senate, but Boss Harry Reid switched his vote at the last minute to “No,” so he can bring it up again later (probably at midnight on a holiday weekend)… We, the people, finally got to vote on ObamaCare and “we” don’t like it. Last August, Missouri voters considered Proposition C, which would exempt Missouri from the individual mandate of ObamaCare. Citizens passed Proposition C and thereby rejected ObamaCare almost 4-1 (71.1 to 28.9 percent)… Nancy Pelosi called Congress back in session less than a week after summer adjournment (at tremendous expense to taxpayers) to vote on a $26 billion bailout for unions. Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann put it best, “Clearly, Speaker Pelosi just can't help herself. The House hasn't even been out a week and she's already going through spending withdrawal”… This has already passed the House. If it succeeds in the Senate (Obama’s signing will be automatic), you won’t be allowed to sell your house without a government license – and that will come only by conforming to all kinds of so-called ‘green’ restrictions. It will amount to the biggest tax increase anyone can remember. It is all part of the “share the wealth” program… Shirley Sharrod was quoted sounding like the worst type of black racist hating whitey. Then it was discovered her remarks were out of context. We hope her quote to the Washington Post is out of context, too, since she sounds like an even worse racist there. Sherrod said she wouldn’t go on Fox News because she felt that they considered her a “pawn” and wanted to go “back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person.” Is that racism, or what? I guess not, since no network mentioned it... Scientology’s plan to save the planet: kill babies! In a two-part story in the St. Petersburg (FL) Times, the newspaper reported 36 female workers (current or former) were pressured into having abortions to show commitment to Sea Org’s (the cult’s nickname) goal of “saving the planet.” One of the women has filed suit in federal court. While a Sea Org spokesman, Tommy Davis, denied the charges (Scientology always denies everything), the Times named a couple of the victims and told their stories… A question The Patriot asked: “In 1824, Both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton presented speeches at the International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria, in late July, pledging USA support in the fight against AIDS. Of course, it is our tax dollars, so no problem for them. No mention was made of a fight against what causes AIDS, however, as it would upset the Sodomite community (and its voting bloc)… Gallup discovered the most conservative states are also the most religious and the most liberal states are the most irreligious. No surprise there!... The FBI recently released statistics showing that between 2008-2009 (while gun sales soared), murders in We previously told you the Louisiana House voted 74-18 to allow concealed weapons (for those with permits to carry) in churches. Strangely, the Louisiana Senate judiciary committee killed it on a 3-0 vote. Let’s hope there isn’t a shoot-out in a church in the [Later: this bill was revived in the Senate by tacking it on another bill, was passed, reapproved by the House and sent to the governor, who signed it. All that is necessary now is for churches/synagogues/mosques to notify their congregations pistol packers are present]… The 18th-century Scottish historian Alexander Tytler is credited with this Cycle of Democracy: "From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty [Rule of Law]; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage [rule of men]." We are almost full cycle!... Illegals in Arizona were leaving there – weeks before the new law took effect – like rats leaving a sinking ship. The use of that metaphor does not mean we think illegals are rats, but they are lawbreakers… Juarez, Mexico, is your first stop over the border from El Paso, Texas. A little over halfway through 2010 there had already been 1,645 murders, earning it the title, “Mexico’s most dangerous city.” It is definitely not a good place to hang out with the wife and kids… At the annual Conference of Mayors at Oklahoma City in June the majority, by voice vote (which often means the “yea”s shouted louder than the “nay”s), passed resolutions against the Arizona bill. No surprise, it was sponsored by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, two of the loudest voices in the country screaming against it… Her Honor, U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton (a Clinton appointee), on the eve the Arizona law was to go into effect, took all the teeth out of it – actually, she merely put them on “hold” – and allowed the “gumming” to begin. She complained it “burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked.” She seemed oblivious to the fact that those “detained” for a few moments would be inconvenienced only because they had committed an unlawful act!... Later: we noted Dave Poff’s comment: “Please let me be the next white guy to get pulled over so I can tell a State Trooper he is not allowed to run my numbers because it would be a burden on me, and it would restrict my liberty”… By the way, Governor Brewer has vowed to fight the feds all the way to the Supreme Court on this issue of the legality of Arizona law… How did Alvin Greene win the Democrat senate primary in NO! to Newt for president. Former House Speaker Gingrich says he is considering a run for the White House in 2012. While we have long appreciated his conservatism, we abhor his personal life. He is into his third marriage and he quit the evangelical Baptists for the ritual, doctrinally incorrect Roman Catholicism… A big bunch of onions to the national Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for refusing the request of an organization of former Sodomites for exhibition space at the PTA's national convention in We are winning in the polls. According to Baptist Press, 50 percent of Americans now believe abortion is morally wrong, while 38 percent believe it is morally acceptable... Attention fellow elders: Mr. Obama said “seniors” would be receiving $250 to help with medical expenses. If you are one, don’t strain your eyes looking in your mailbox or you may end up paying an optometrist to treat you for eye strain. He failed to note only a few, selected seniors will get the cash… Columnist David Aikman says every American with “a morsel of common sense has figured out that al-Qaeda and its global franchise of like-minded terrorists have been inspired by an Islam-based ideology that seeks – in the name of a global Islamic caliphate – to overthrow the U.S. and the West,” except three people: “President Obama, White House aide for counter-terrorism John Brennan, and Attorney General Eric Holder.” Based on their words and actions, he may be right!... |
