Senator Jeff Sessions summed up the response by saying it appeared the Obama administration was “nullifying existing law” and suggested of Morton, “If he feels he cannot enforce the law, he shouldn't have the job," noting he was “… not fulfilling the responsibilities of his office." Retired Army Colonel George Goetzke speaks of Washington politicians in one lump: "They are the most corrupt, self-serving, criminal, worthless group of subhuman misfits ever collected in one place in the history of mankind! Don't forget to remember that in November!"… The “traitor” Democrat Congressman from Arizona, who cheers every outside boycott of the state he “represents,” is handing out red, blue and yellow (state flag colors) bracelets to show solidarity against its new immigration law. The bride, Kathryn Rogers, is easily young enough to be his daughter. Rush, who will be 60 his next birthday, married a girl in her early thirties. Previous trips to the altar were with Roxy Maxine McNeely, Michelle Sixta, and Marta Fitzgerald… According to a brought-to-light insider memo, Obama is planning to give the 12-18 million illegal immigrants amnesty by bypassing Congress. Would he do it? If he can, yes!… It looks like Congressman Charles “Hanky Panky” Rangel has finally come to the end of his road. The House ethics committee, after a two-year investigation, filed 13 “major” ethical charges against him covering 41 pages. The last House trial was for fellow Democrat James A. Traficant (OH). He was found guilty, kicked out of Congress, and spent time in the slammer… So what did the Democrats, controlling “the most ethical Congress in history” (sic) do? Well, for one thing, New Yorkers – including Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, Governor David Patterson and candidate for governor Andrew Cuomo – threw a big fundraiser for him… Move over Charles Rangel, it looks like still another Democrat in the House will face ethics charges this fall. California’s Maxine Waters is facing serious charges… The next one to be investigated may be Congressman Harry Teague (D-NM, 2nd district). That means you and I will be paying the full freight for their coverage? Now, that’s against my religion!... Actually, the latter general said what most of the rest of the country was thinking… While Obama uses every chance a television camera turns on near him to tell how wonderfully his stimulus has been working (something impossible to prove or even make seem feasible), a Pew Research Center poll reveals 55% of the American work force – well over half – have either been fired, had a salary cut, or experienced reduction in work hours… Columnist Deroy Murdock hit a homerun when he noted, “If pumping money into people’s pockets stimulates the economy, then vacuuming money from their pockets should depress the economy”… Well, I guess you could say Florida's governor Charlie Crist showed his true colors by vetoing a law the legislators in his state passed that would have permitted opting out of a provision in ObamaCare (as Arizona, Mississippi and Tennessee have done) to require coverage for abortion. His veto also canceled a provision requiring women seeking abortion in the first trimester to have an ultrasound first with a doctor’s explanation. Crist, who was facing almost certain defeat in his Republican run for the Senate, switched to "independent" to have a chance. Overriding the veto doesn't seem likely... An item in Baptist Press about “mixed marriages” (what the Bible calls the unequal yoke) said in the 18 years from 1988 to 2006 the percentage of mixed marriages in our country jumped from 15 to 25 percent. It was talking about the multimillion dollar hitching of Chelsea Clinton (Methodist) to Marc Mezvinsky (Jewish). In their case the couple apparently do not take their faith seriously since they were shacked up for some time prior to meeting at the altar… Cathy Lynn Grossman writing in USA Today said for those of ‘nominal’ faith a mixed marriage was no big deal, but those “serious about their faith, life-cycle decisions from baptism to burial will loom.” She noted “every rite of passage, sacred ritual and holy day will require negotiation.” In short, “battles.” Instead of the traditional wedding march, such couples should walk down the aisle to the tune “The Fight Is On!”… SEPTEMBER QUOTE OF THE MONTH: “What I see in America today is people painting their cabins while the ship goes down.
